As each of us in our varied lives journey, sometimes we will post photos, videos, or just thoughts of what we are going through. It is but one way we stay in touch.

nothing much...
i don't know why it is taking longer than normal to recoup from this past trip - the combo of travel, sickness, tooth decay, and stress has made october a super poopy month.
But i am coming back into focus and getting it together - it is now or never to quote the Roots. And it is November so that is good.
Can't get enough of the new arcade fire album suburbs and the new roots album.
anyway, not a lot to say - i will be sending an email with part one of the china trip to look at - it was too much to put in here.
Just thinking of y'all. love ya - a

Deconstructing my day as manifest by my stereo
(a photo essay of sorts)
so a couple of weeks ago my mini stereo unit stopped letting me play, access, use, take out, put in, or listen to cds. So after a couple of weeks of listening to the radio and realizing that i can't stand the Smashing Pumpkins, I had had enough. It also had a cassette player but that had broken years ago.
so i decided today to go get a new stereo. On my way to the subway, i saw this innovative attachment to a fire hydrant. Most time, people just open up the fire hydrant to act as a super lawn sprinkler except it sprinkles on the street and by sprinkles i mean deluges. But this nice attachment makes it so much less water cannon and much more water spritzer.

it even created pools for the pigeons to play. I hate pigeons though.

so i bought a new stereo and set it up. It has only one cd slot. My old one had five. It doesn't have a cassette player and yes i still listen to my old mix tapes - well i would if i had a working tape player. I love tapes and now officially don't have any way to listen to them. Just 100's of tapes in a drawer. But now i can plug my mp3 player into the stereo.
I realized, though, that i still had five cds locked in the old one. So i began to take it apart.

and i succeeded - yippee. Crap, but i still had a cassette tape (every 6 months or so in a fit of optimism i would try to see if it would again). so the eject no longer worked so i had to take that apart too.
but i succeeded. and these are the fruits of my efforts.

The End.
My deconstructed day as seen through a deconstructed stereo.
ps. i am pretty sure i have a mouse in the house and it makes me not want to go to bed. That and it being Sunday.

Do, or do not...
...there is no try
so i got that from Chuck Klosterman who got that from yoda, but i like it.
today i went to this coffeeshop i have been meaning to go to for awhile in my neighborhood - always packed and full of cool kids (the guy behind the counter answered my "how are you doing" with a "solid" - now, really....) and it hit me as i looked at all the tables covered in computers that there is no more going to coffee shop sunday morning to read the paper; there is only digital discovery - but at least people are still going to coffee shops.
anyway, as a compliment to dad's photos, i offer some of my own.

These are photos of Mallows Bay in Charles County
This is the sight looking out into the Bay - just off the ramp used to put in the boats. The large hulk is the only above water ship - there are over 150 others all under water just to the right of this vessel.
Up to the right is an inlet with a few other relics - a perfect place to kayak amd photograph.

Pogo-A-Gogo
Alright, this is mainly for dad because my email is deciding not to send out, but I'm sure you all will enjoy it too.
So anyway, there is this artist I really, really, REALLY love named Pogo. He's an awesome dude who creates amazing music out of sound effects and voices from different movies. Here's a few of my favorites from him:
Upular (using sounds from Up)
Mary's Magic (this one is comprised of only sounds from The Secret Garden)
Gardyn (this one he made using sound effects around his mom's garden for Mother's Day)
So, the main reason I'm posting this is because Pogo will be performing live in Tallahassee Florida (which is awesome cuz he's from Australia!!!) on September 3rd. Tickets are only $10!!! Here's the link to the event.
And dad gave out an email saying him and Jonathan will be visiting FSU in Tallahasse as well. So I thought this was quite the coincidence and I checked on Google maps and the place he's playing at (the Engine Room) is literally a block away from the FSU campus. I'm not kidding.
And plus it's during my break between summer and fall quarter (with my 21st coming up too woot!!) and it would mean the world to me to see this guy perform live.
Oi, I got to get my email fixed.
